Light Considerations with Christmas Trees
Decorating a tree for Christmas is a lot of fun. Some people look at it as a task they dread each year. The lights are often the burden that causes people to cringe. Once the lights are on, the decorating process becomes a lot of fun. Here are a few tips about putting lights on a tree that lessen the decorating pains.
When you have artificial Christmas trees it is important to assemble the tree first. Be sure to lay out all of the branches and limbs on the tree. Have them completely folded out or you will have tangling issues later. The tree should be in the stand and completely folded out so you have the look of a perfect tree.
Always test your lights first before you put them on a tree. The last thing you want is a faulty bulb somewhere on the tree causing your entire light strand not to work. This can be impossible to find when the lights are already on a tree. Plug the lights into the wall right out of the box and verify they work. If they do not, you will have to find which bulb needs to be replaced. Most boxes of light strands have extra bulbs you can use on the light strands if there is a faulty bulb.
When you put lights on a tree you want to be sure you start at the top of the tree with the end of the light stand that is not the electrical plug. This way you will finish at the bottom of the tree and the strand will be ready to plug in. If you want to run a couple of light strands together you should plug them both together first before you run them. This way you will still end up at the bottom of the tree.
When you start wrapping the tree with the bulbs you will begin at the top of the tree. You want to go in circles. With an artificial tree it may be easy because the tree will spin on the stand and you can stand in place. You might have to walk around the tree if yours does not spin. Start at the inside of the tree and work your way out with the bulbs. For the brightest trees you will want to string together a couple of strands of lights. Work your way down to the bottom with the lights as you evenly cover the tree with the lights. When you take the lights off, just be sure to start at the bottom and work your way up. This will make the removal easier.
If you can’t stand putting lights on Christmas tree you can purchase prelit Christmas trees instead. These trees are artificial and have the bulbs already integrated in the branches. The lights are even around the tree and it looks perfect.
Lights on the tree can be a frustrating task because of the wires getting tangled. You can avoid the tangles by starting at the top of the tree and working your way down. Always test your lights before you put them on the tree.
